Kars weavings draw upon the closely related textile traditions of eastern Anatolia and the Caucasus. Their broad medallions, angular ornament, and substantial wool give them a strong architectural quality, while their softened colors make them highly adaptable to informal and contemporary interiors. At seventeen feet in length and more than five feet wide, this carpet can furnish a gallery, entrance hall, l or loft space that would be difficult to accommodate with a conventional narrow runner.
