Woven in the Arak region of central Persia, these carpets transformed classical Persian floral ornament into a broader and more relaxed decorative language. Monumental palmettes, rhythmic vines, and open spacing made Sultanabad carpets particularly well-suited to the expansive rooms of European and American residences. Its desirable dimensions and commanding yet approachable character place this among the more important decorative room-size Persian carpets in the auction.
