Malayer weavers developed an extensive repertoire of geometric medallions, floral lattices, botehs and stylized botanical forms. The small variations within their designs reveal the hand of the individual weaver and distinguish these carpets from more rigidly planned urban workshop production. At more than five feet wide, the present carpet is substantially broader than a standard runner, making it especially suitable for a gallery, entrance hall, library or intimate seating arrangement.
