At twenty-two feet in length, the carpet would have required a vast loom, a carefully prepared design and an extended collaborative effort by a team of skilled weavers. Kerman became renowned for finely articulated floral compositions, graceful drawing and an exceptionally broad and subtle range of colors. Large carpets such as this were conceived as major architectural furnishings, capable of unifying the proportions and decoration of an important room. Its imposing dimensions make the carpet particularly suitable for a grand residence, hotel, gallery or institutional interior.
