Birds sing throughout the field, carrying meanings of fertility and faith, while calligraphic Kufic script appears in the borders between the design's four quadrants. Woven in Tabriz ? a center of carpet-making since the Safavid Dynasty ? this richly symbolic and meticulously detailed carpet is a rare example of a design type that does not come around often. Condition: Lot #246 is in very good condition. The pile if mostly full , low and even with no visible wear and tear signs. Light antique washed to soften the colors. The two ends are original and hand-secured. The sides are secured. There is no dryness in the foundation. This rug is clean and floor ready.
