Midrash Rabot, 2 sections, first edition featuring the commentary Yedei Moshe. Frankfurt der Oder, 1711-12

Midrash Rabot on the Torah and five megillot with the commentaries: Matnot Kehuna and (for the first time) Yedei Moshe by Rabbi Msohe Helin, grandson of the Maharshal and the commentary Likkutim from the Yafeh To’ar.

Printed in Frankfurt der Oder by Michael Gottschlack. The title pages cite the date 1711 while the colophon lists 1712. [1], 263, 109 leaves. There is a separate title page and page numbering for the Five Megillot. The title pages are handsome woodcut engravings: Moses and Aaron, the Aron and its cherubs, Jacob’s dream and his struggle with the angel, and the music of King David. The first letter of each section is framed with a wonderful engraving and the first letter of each chumash has a small engraved frame. There is an introduction by the son of the author of Yedei Moshe, and some approbations, one of which was given especially for this edition.

Worming holes and damage, stains, detached binding, lone pages detached, overall fair to good condition.
