Comments/description: The consignor of a previous example noted: This can was likely made for a small military reunion around 1949 from what can be ascertained. He is aware of only one other. Presumably, this is it! The can is sealed and filled with sand for use as a paperweight, desk ornament, or doorstop(!). It appears to be all-original though it never held beer. Construction is identical to a popcorn tin with a lapped seam that is not soldered, and it has smooth, unbeaded lids. It is the height of a standard U.S. 12-ounce beverage can. The top lid and rim are painted the same olive color as the can while the bottom is silver. Below the very large WFIR statement is light/blurred text that may read LOUIS ROEBOM CO L A. The print quality is quite crude by professional standards and the label design is likewise not executed at the level required of a can company, ad agency, or in-house brewery design team. This makes it highly likely that the piece is a very small distribution souvenir or commemorative-type item made by a small shop with limited capabilities. If for a reunion, one of the attendees may have even been an employee of such a shop with the means to provide the memento himself. The logo design on this can does sync up with that of IRTP can 28-24 in which the lettering is somewhat elongated horizontally and the B of BEER juts above the banner, indicating a circa 1948-49 origin.
