With its superb carving and coloring, its 31”H , its cassowary bird feather attachments, its fine original conditons, its three color natural earth ”paints” , retaining its original cowrie shell eyes, this great large figure was one of the few that have come out on the market. A house figure, it was once communal property, tribally owned and k ept in a social house for everyone All in all, an exceptions surviving example of Oceanic art.
