Princess Diana's Phillip Sommerville Beret - A Philip Somerville 100% cotton velvet beret, made for the princess in about 1985.The hat was donated to her late grandmother's charity, Countess Cynthia Spencer in Northampton, where Princess Diana's family seat is also located in the immediate vicinity. The hat was subsequently purchased from this organization. Mr. Somerville was chosen by the Princess as her personal milliner and designed countless hats for her. His obituary in The Sunday Times said of his influence on Princess Diana's fashion sense: ”he helped to mold her style – and with it the country's taste in hats” (Attached pictures of the Princess wearing same / or similar berets from Sommerville).
