FOLK ART ”NEW DEAL” WALKING STICK - Folksy stick carved with ”TO REMEMBER THE NEW DEAL NRA 1933.” 47.5” long. One of the major pieces of legislation that was part of President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal was the National Industrial Recovery Act, which formed the National Recovery Adminstration (NRA) in 1933. The purpose was to encourage collaboration between government, labor, and industry to create fair wages and prices. While the Supreme Court declared the law unconstitutional (on separation of powers grounds), many of the labor rules were reworked into the National Labor Relations Act.
