JACQUARD COVERLET WITH MULTI-MOTIF DESIGN - American, mid-19th century. A jacquard coverlet in green, red, indigo, and white. Many jumbled centerfield motifs, including foliate cross, 'antlered alien butterfly, ' tulip medallion, rosette with plume cross, two types of pinwheels, and a foliate cross in diamond. Borders contain flowers in vases and flowering trees, with matching centerblocks. Fringed on bottom, with center seam. 89” long, 77” wide. Provenance: The Collection of the late Dr. Virginia Gunn, Wooster, Ohio.
