PATCHWORK QUILTS - American, 19th century, cotton. A patchwork quilt composed of 12-point stars and squares within squares, offset with plain blocks. Composed of rust, brown, purple, grey, and blue printed fabrics on solid white, with grey printed blocks. Hand-pieced and quilted. 78” long, 74” wide; together with a radiating-square patchwork quilt with a pattern of squares rotating inside larger squares. Composed of printed purple, brown, and white fabrics on a pink ground, with a brown border. Machine and hand-stitched, hand-quilted. 89” long, 77” wide. Provenance: The Collection of the late Dr. Virginia Gunn, Wooster, Ohio.
