CARVED BLANKET CHEST - Possibly Fairfield County, Ohio, 1820-1840, walnut and poplar. Paneled chest with one large drawer, and the panels and drawers are carved with elaborate sunbursts and quarter fans, and the sides with incised fylfots, all on high turned legs. 33” high, 38” wide, 20” deep. The carved sunburst was a popular motif on early Fairfield County, Ohio furniture, though the carving on this chest cannot be matched to a specific Fairfield County carver.
