A coverlet in red, green, and blue with curling leaf and flower and leaf medallions, Federal Eagle and tree side borders over a row of eight-point stars, bird and rose foot border, corner blocks signed and dated ”J AND S SLAYBAUGH BUCYRUS CRAWFORD COUNTY OHIO 1846”. 84” by 72”. Provenance: The Virginia Gunn Collection, Wooster, Ohio. Josiah and Samuel Slaybaugh were brothers and business partners. Coverlets bearing both their names are dated 1848-1849.
