Alexander Wilson is considered among the most important ornithologists working in America in the 19th century, and his American Ornithology ranks just under Audubon's Birds of America in terms of imporant works on American birds. This edition includes Bonaparte's continuation, which he produced after Wilson's death. Provenance: private collection.
