MIDWESTERN ”JAILHOUSE” CUPBOARD - Probably Wisconsin (collected in the Milwaukee area in the 1970s), mid-19th century, pine. With a single door with lower panel and latticework upper panel. 77” high, 49” wide, 16.5” deep. This form, so-names for the door's similar appearance to the door of a jail, is distinctive of Germanic communities in the Upper Midwest and parts of Canada. See Lyndon C.
