SAMUEL BRENEISEN SR. TALL CASE CLOCK - Reading, Pennsylvania, c. 1799, cherry and poplar. Broken-arch pediment, the case with egg-and-dart carving under the cove molding, and with extensive inlay, including vines (from hearts to tulips), all on french feet. Brass movement with sun-moon and ship dial with original paint. 96.75” high. This lot is eligible for pick-up or furniture/freight shipping. If you need assistance with shipping, please contact us. Condition: Dial retains its original paint. Retains weights, key, and pendulum. Finial may be original but is now attached in a different method (there is a round hold on top of the plinth not currently being used); one gooseneck scroll has been glued, the glass is replaced. The case has been refinished, has some minor surface blemishes, including a piece of the lowermost inlaid banding on the proper-right side of the base, which has popped out and cracked (but is still present), shrinkage gap in the front base panel on the side opposite the faux keyhole.
