FROSTED LION EAPG BY GILLINDER & SONS - Philadelphia, PA, ca 1876-1877, an oval covered dish and compote with lion finials. Oval covered dish 8” high, 4.75” wide, 8” long; covered compote 12” high, 8.25” diameter. Gillinder's ”Frosted Lion” Compote was first introduced at the Centennial exposition in 1876 and mass produced in 1877 by Gillinder & Sons. This Early American Pressed Glass is listed in the Standard Encyclopedia of Pressed Glass 1860-1930 . Condition: Covered oval dish, chip on lion's nose. Compote - in good condition.
