OHIO MEMORIAL PORTRAIT - Oil on canvas, unsigned, c. 1857. Portrait of Rosetta Patterson (1840-1857) of Mifflin Township, Franklin County, depicted bust-length with grass and leaves. In its original folksy frame with heart corners, and retaining a memorial card affixed to the back. 20” high by 14” wide; 24” by 18.25” (with frame). Rosetta was the daughter of Philander (1804-1885) and Achsa Experience Patterson (1810-1882). Philander came west to Ohio from Massachusetts before 1820, and soon thereafter married Ohio-born Achsa Experience. The couple had six children and outlived all but one. GP Condition: Good; craquelure and some inpainting
