SCHOOLGIRL WATERCOLOR - Emily Lacy, Geneva, March 4, 1848. Cornucopie-style vase filled with flowers and a butterfly. Matted and framed: 19” high, 15.5” wide (overall). Geneaological research has identified a possible maker in Emiline Ann (Emily) Lacey, who was born in 1828 in Galway, New York. Emily was recorded at the Geneva Female Institute and Normal School in 1847 in Ontario County, New York, married Corydon Wheat in 1852, and remained in Ontario County until her death in 1924. Condition: Good; light toning, not removed from frame for examination
