PAIR OF PAPER-CUT MEMORIALS - Petersham, Massachusetts, 1840. Cut from black paper and laid on white paper. Made for Capt. Stephen and Abigail White, who both died in 1840. Appear to be in their original frames. 11” high, 13.75” wide (overall). Stephen White (1766-1840) and Abigail Hudson (1772-1840) were married in 1792 and lived in Petersham, Worcester County, Massachusetts. Stephen served as a Captain in ?Captain White?s Company? of ?Independent Cadets? of the Massachusetts Militia in the War of 1812. Condition: Good; minor losses, toning to the backing paper, wear to the frames, not removed from frames for examination
