NEW YORK MEMORIAL SAMPLER - Avaline Margaret Putman, Auriesville, Montgomery County, 1839, silk on linen. Large sampler with the Putnam family record above a monument to Avaline's brother John, who died at age 18. In a period frame, 29.5” high, 21.5” wide (overall). Ex Philip Bradley (Pennsylvania). Avaline Margaret Putman, born October 26, 1824 to Abraham Victor Putman (1790-1855) and Maria M. Vedder (1797-1850). In 1842, she marred James H. Schuyler (born about 1820). Avaline died on died May 2, 1843, likely as a result of the birth of daughter Avaline, who was born in April of 1843 and died in August of the same year. Condition: Good; light toning, bright colors
