WWI AIRPLANE CARVED PLAQUE - 2nd quarter-20th century. Relief-carving of a WWI dogfight between biplanes. On the back it is inscribed ”WWI Niueport 11” and retains its original polychrome paint. 17” high, 36” wide. The Nieuport 11 was a French WWI airplane (nicknamed ”The Bebe”) designed by Gustave Delage. The Bebe helped put an end to the destruction wrought by the German Fokker. Condition: Some weathering to the surface
