UNUSUAL OHIO CROKINOLE TABLE - Champaign County, late 19th century, walnut, ash, poplar. Round gaming top over a turned standard and square base. With stamped decoration, including ”JZ” at the center of the top. 28” high, 31.5” diameter. Crokinole is a game developed in Ontario, Canada, in the 19th century and found popularity in Mennonite communities there and in the U.S.This table descended in the original Champaign County family until 2014 or 2015 when it was sold at auction. Genealogical research has identified ”JZ” as John Zimmerman (1850-1930), a lifelong farmer in Mad River Township.
