PORTRAITS OF TWO BROTHERS - American, 1825-1835, oils on canvas. Half-length folk portraits of two young men, one wearing a green vest, and the other wearing a blue coat. Painted by the same artist and in matching period/original frames. 23” high, 19” wide (sight), 29” high, 25” wide (overall). According to tradition, the two sitters are brothers and headed west together when gold was discovered in California. Condition: Each has some minor damage/repair, both have craquelure, both need cleaned, both frames have wear and loss.
