RIVER LANDSCAPE - American, 2nd half-19th century, oil on canvas. Oval format, bucolic landscape with a man fishing and chatting with a woman. 17” high, 23” wide (sight); 23” high, 29” wide (overall). Condition: Some craquelure, minor paint loss, minor repairs. UPDATE: We removed this from the frame and found that the canvas was glued down to thick pasteboard, and the back of that pasteboard is dated May 1907.
