PORTRAIT OF ABRAHAM DICKERSON - New Jersey, 1840-1850, oil on canvas. Seated portrait of a man in black, with bushy muttonchops. In a period/original gesso and gilt frame. 30.25” high, 22.5” wide (sight); 39.5” high, 31” wide (overall). Inscribed on the back is ”Abm Dickerson Chester Morris Co N Jersey.” Abraham Dickerson (1814-1875) lived all his life in Morris County and worked as a carpenter. Condition: T-tear on left side, about 6” long; frame largely intact and with old/original surface.
