PAIR OF WATERCOLOR BOTANICALS BY JENNIE CULLUM (AMERICAN, 19TH CENTURY) - Signed lower right and dated 1864 and 1865. Large-format depictions of a large Amazonian water lily, both open and closed. Period/original frames. 18.5” high, 24” wide (sight); 24.25” high, 30” wide (overall). The Victoria Regia is also known as Victoria Amazonica and is the second largest water lily. The watercolors are likely based on Walter Hood Fitch's illustrations in the 1851 Illustrations of the Royal Water-Lily. There is a Jennie Cullum who was born in Jefferson County, Ohio in 1851. Her family moved west and she died in Kansas in 1936. Condition: Even toning, light water staining, one has been matted, neither were removed from the frame for examination.
