THE TAKING OF THE PHILO PARSONS BY HERB MOTT (AMERICAN, B. 1923) - Oil on canvas, titled and signed lower right. Depiction of the Confederate seizure of the Detroit-Sandusky steamer in September of 1864. In an oak frame. 29.5” high, 39.5” wide (sight); 32” high, 41.5” wide (overall). The seizure of the boat off of Kelley's Island was successful, but the plan to then capture the USS Michigan was not; the 20 or so Confederates abandoned the Philo Parsons. Condition: Good condition.
