CARVED STONE HEAD - Possibly Richland County, Ohio, late 19th century, appears to be pink sandstone. An African-American head, with the number ”1701” carved into the forehead. 10” high. This may have been the head from a figural gate post and the number is the house number. Some of the minor flakes and scuffs reveal a pinkish color to the stone. Condition: Wonderful, original, weathered surface, with some minor scuffs and flakes.
