SLIP-DECORATED REDWARE LOAF DISH - Possibly the Hoyt Pottery, Norwalk, Connecticut, early 19th century. With yellow and brown marbled slip decoration. 14.5” long. Several of these 14.5” loaf pans have sold in recent years, all with marbled slip decoration. This example, and the example offered as lot 52 lack the green, but are nearly identical in all other aspects. Provenance: From an Idaho Collection Condition: Minor rim chips. UPDATED: upon close inspection, we discovered that there is some surface loss and associated inpainting to the decoration (see added photo), and then the front side was oversprayed. The repair was very well done and is hardly noticeable without close scrutiny.
