JOEL TANNER HART (KENTUCKY, 1810-1877): BUST OF ERASTUS B. BIGELOW
Signed on the back and dated 1853. Bust of the noted inventor in classical robes. 26" high. Bigelow (1814-1879) was born in Massachusetts and is best known for his development of a powered loom, which revolutionized carpet production in the United States. Provenance: From the collection of the late Dr. James Dawson, sold to benefit the Dr. James Dawson MD Women's Clinic in Uganda; Ex Clifton Anderson (Kentucky); Previously sold at Grogan and Company, Boston, 12/6/1993, lot 457.
Condition: A few chips around the base, a blemish above one eye.
