TAILOR'S TRADE SIGN - American, 2nd half-19th century. Single-sided, panel-constructed, and retaining its original paint. Made by Johnson and Birdsall for ”Buchanan the Tailor.” 25.5” high, 81” long. Two tailors by the name of Buchanan could be found in the geneaological record, one in Nebraska and one in Augusta, Georgia. Unfortunately, the sign painters could not be located. Condition: Original paint with some minor craquelure and losses, the upper-left corner joint is loose.
