”NATIVE AMERICAN BURIAL GRAVESITE” SALISH OIL PAINTING BY JENNANIE DAVIS - Original folk art oil painting on board by Jennanie (”Jennie”) Davis, Salish artist and daughter of Duwamish Chief Cheshiahud, signed lower left and dated 1928.  According to the note on the verso, the painting depicts a widow's burial of a warrior and his prize horse. Art measures approximately 22” H x 34” W x 2” D presented in a frame measuring 24” H x 36” W.  Artist bio: According to the attached note, Jennie Davis made native baskets and other native crafts along with painting. Her father, Chief Cheshiahud was also known by locals of Bainbridge Island, Washington as ”Lake Union John” and Jennie lived with him until his death in 1910.
