ORREN MIXER 'CALF ROPING' WESTERN SCENE GOUACHE PAINTING - Original gouache painting on paper by listed artist Orren Mixer (OK, 1920-2008), signed lower right and dated 1941. The art features a horse with cowboy roping a calf amidst a western landscape. Art measures approximately 9” H x 9.5” W presented in a frame measuring 16” H x 15” W x `1” D.  Artist bio:  Mixer was a painter and graphic artist best known through his life-like depictions of livestock, particularly horses. His images of different horse breeds were shown on covers of Western Horseman, the Quarter Horse Journal, Cattleman, and Oklahoma Today. Most of his work is commissioned by wealthy private horse breeders so it's rare that one of his pieces comes to market as most stay in the family. Mixer was inducted in the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 1993.
