”BUFFALO ROBE” BY DON POLLAND & ”EAGLE CATCHER” BY MICHAEL BOYETT FOR CHILMARK - The solid pewter sculpture ” Buffalo Robe” was created by artist Don Polland for Chilmark. This is part of a 2,500 limited edition release in 1980. The sculpture measures approx. 5.5” H x 4” W x 4.5” D. A limited edition pewter sculpture titled ”Eagle Catcher” created by artist Michael Boyett for Chilmark. This was a limited run of 2,500 pieces in 1982. The figure measures approx. 4” H x 7” W x 9” D. Donald ”Don” Polland (1932-2003 ) work can be found in the Whitney Gallery of the Buffalo Bill Historical Museum in Cody, Wyoming; the C. M. Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana; and the Montana Historical Society in Helena, Montana. Michael Boyett (1943-2015) had an interest in heroic historical America, coupled with desire for realism, lead to the development of his moving and powerful style in which he dramatically stresses the qualities of movement and detail. Michael believes that each sculpture should give the viewer the sensation that he has actually witnessed an event in history. Chilmark Pewter, produced from the mid-1970s to the late 1990s, is highly renowned for its fine-crafted, limited-edition metal sculptures.
