BLICKENSDERFER NO. 5 TYPEWRITER IN WOODEN CASE, CAPT. GEORGE W. POVEY, CIRCA 1896 - A Blickensderfer No. 5 typewriter with an original wooden case, produced in Stamford, Connecticut circa 189 with serial number 40706. There is a metal plaque on the front with the brand, model number, and manufacturing location. There is also a metal plaque on the side displaying the patent numbers and dates from 1890-1892. The wooden case is marked ”GEO. W. POVEY” and the item comes from the family of Captain George William Povey who died of unspecified illness while serving in the Philippines during the Spanish American War in 1905. The case measures approx. 6.5” H x 13” W x 9.5” D.
