HERMANN MICHALOWSKI ”BATTLE OF ATLANTA” PAINTING - Historically significant original oil painting on canvas by listed artist, Hermann Heinrich Albert Michalowski (1860 - 1903), signed lower right. Features three Union soldiers from Section 5, lower center, of the original ”Battle of Atlanta” cyclorama painting. Hermann and 16 Panorama Painters of Milwaukee, worked five months to produce ”The Battle of Atlanta” Cyclorama Painting measuring 49 feet tall and almost 400 feet wide. It first debuted in 1886. Hermann was hired for the project because he specialized in the painting of the human form & had experience painting cycloramas. Art measures 32” tall and 46” wide mounted in a frame measuring 37” x 52”. Condition: Shows signs of in-painting.
