A RARE LARGE CHINESE BLACK LACQUERED BOX, POSSIBLY A GUZHENG CASE, LATE QING / REPUBLIC PERIOD. Of long rectangular form with black lacquered exterior, bronze hinges and mounts featuring a quartre lobed metal plate with a ruyi shaped clasp. 158.5cm length x 32cm deep x 20cm height.
Provenance: From a local private collection, purchased circa 1994 in London.
Nicholas Grindley, London label to base. With old Christie's sale label, from unknown sale.
Condition: Some surface cracking to lacquer in places. The box and hinges in good order, mainly surface wear to note.
