Bidspirit auction | Glass Cylinder Lock-Top Banks Grand

Glass Cylinder Lock-Top Banks Grand Rapids Speedrome Advertising - A pair of vintage glass cylinder lock-top banks, often called cylinder dome banks, is offered together. These promotional banks were popular giveaways from local community banks from the 1930s through the 1950s. Both are all original, have red felt bottoms on the inside, and show no cracking or chipping. The unbranded example has a copper finish and comes with its key and lock. The second is a chrome/nickel-plated variant with a collectible dual-sided advertising label. The front features a bright red-and-yellow race car for the Grand Rapids Speedrome, a historic Michigan racing track that opened in the late 1940s, while the back features bold red lettering for the Merchants & Mechanics Bank in Flint, Michigan. It comes with its lock, though the lock appears slightly bent and does not latch properly. Both measure approximately 3” D and range from approximately 5” to 6” H. The overall condition is good.
