Black 1950s Cadillac Tin Car by Marusan Japan - Designed by Kosuge and produced by Marusan of Japan, this 1950 Cadillac sedan is finished in black and represents one of the designer's finest creations. Kosuge's work was considered so exceptional that he was permitted to stamp his name alongside Marusan on the bottom plate. Bright gold and silver trim accents the body, with ”2203” marked on the license plate and Cadillac script appearing on the front fenders. Additional details include proper unlicensed Cadillac emblems, separate headlights, a finely detailed grille, and an elaborate multicolor lithographed interior finished in red, blue, black, and cream with a brown, finely lithographed dashboard. The original black finish remains very attractive, showing numerous tiny scratches, minimal play wear, and minor touch-ups visible upon close inspection. The original bottom plate exhibits age-related paint crazing. The friction mechanism was tested during cataloging and found to be in working condition. The design is believed to have inspired the later Gamma 1954 Cadillac toy. An exacting reproduction box accompanies this Very Good example. It measures approximately 12” L. Condition: VERY GOOD
