1880s Brass Cutler Mail Chute US Mail Postal Slot - Cutler Manufacturing Co. (Rochester, N.Y. - patent pending) brass post office mail chute slot. Measures approximately 5-5/8” x 8.25” x 1.5”. Weight: 3.7 pounds. There is some foreign material caked on parts of the device, including in some of the letters. Our research indicates that Cutler Manufacturing introduced the patented mail chute in 1883. With patent pending, this is likely an early example. Some green patina on back.
