MID CENTURY HUNGARIAN MENYHERT TOTH
Menyhért Tóth was a Hungarian painter (2 January 1904 - 11 January 1980). He graduated from the Hungarian Academy of Fine arts in 1935, studied with Janis Vaszary, Istvan Reti and Laszlo Kando. He was a core member of of the Baja Group and the artist group of Tokaj. His style does not belong to any movement, but refers to primitive art and the naive painter's cosmic world view, and the stylized forms of surrealism.
His work has been featured at MODEM, the Centre for Modern and Contemporary Arts
