RABBI ELIEZER ZUSSMAN SOFER, RABBI OF PAKS, AUTHOR OF YALKUT ELIEZER - HANDWRITTEN SIGNED INTERESTING LETTER ADRESSED TO RABBI MOSHE SCHICK – MAHARAM SCHICK. Letter by Rabbi Eliezer Zussman Sofer addressed to his teacher, Rabbi Meir Schick – Maharam Schick. Dated 1873. Opening with highly respectful titles showing the writer’s great veneration for his teacher, and informing him that his prayers for the recovery of the writer’s son (Rabbi Yehuda, the Rabbi of Arad) have been effective. At the end of the letter he refers to the suffering experienced by his brother. An interesting letter containing references to an unknown communal dispute. Rabbi Eliezer Zussman Sofer (1828-1902), son of Rabbi Fishel Sofer of Pressburg, student of the Chasam Sofer and Ksav Sofer as well as of the Maharam Schick. Son-in-law of Rabbi Yoel Sofer of Paks, where Rabbi Eliezer Zussman served as Dayan, Maggid and Rosh Yeshiva. Rabbi of Halas (1857) and successor to his father-in-law in Paks (1886). Active rabbinical leader of Hungarian orthodox Jewry. Author of famous works: Yalkut Eliezer, Hamakneh, Eit Sofer. Rabbi Moshe Schick (1807-1879), one of the greatest disciples of the Chassam Sofer and famous Hungarian Rabbi, Rosh Yeshiva and leading halachic authority. Rabbinic leader of Hungarian orthodox Jewry, Rabbi of Yergen (Szentgyorgy) and Huszt, and author of over 1000 halachic responsa published in Shaalos Uteshuvos Maharam Schick, and of other works. 1 side. 17 x 21 cm.
