William Duffield (English, 1816-1863), Portrait of a Young Lady in Black, c. 1850 - William Duffield (English, 1816-1863), Portrait of a Young Lady in Black, c. 1850   Depicted half-length with loose brown curls, black dress and gloves and seated with a table to her right with flowers in a glass vase.   Oil on canvas laid down to board, signed ”William Duffield” lower right.   Dimensions : 15 in. x 12 1/4 in.; 18 1/4 in. x 15 1/2 in. (framed) Condition: Inpainting across background visible under UV light.  Craquelure to canvas in areas.  Build-up of residue.  Giltwood frame largely redecorated, with chips and losses to gesso and gilding.
