A George II Figured Walnut Secretaire Bookcase, Mid 18th Century - A George II Figured Walnut Secretaire Bookcase, Mid 18th Century   In two parts.  The upper section with double arched cornice above a pair of mirror-inset doors concealing an interior fitted with two adjustable shelves above two rows of short drawers.  The lower section with a slant fall front opening to reveal an interior fitted with drawers and an inset leather writing surface, above two short and two long drawers, all resting on bracket feet.   Dimensions : 39 in. wide, 23 1/2 in. deep, 85 in. high   Provenance : From a Bala Cynwyd, PA collection. Condition: Lacking finials and key.  Brass hardware replaced, with corresponding plugged holes.  Some scattered losses to veneer, particularly to front.  Cracks and repaired breaks to moldings.  Mirror plates possibly original, with some expected losses to silvering.  Leather writing surface heavily worn and probably later.  Other wear consistent with age and use.
