(sight); 19 in. x 16 1/2 in. (framed)   Provenance : Anne Gurewich Gordon, Bethesda, Maryland; Freeman's, Chicago, IL, 10 May 2022, lot 42; From a Bala Cynwyd, PA estate.   The Russian inscription reads: To dear Mikhael Itzhakovich Press, in kind memory, from the heart, Leonid Pasternak.  Press (1871-1938) was a Russian-American violinist, conductor, and music educator.  He fled Russia in 1922 for America, eventually joining the violin faculty at the Curtis Institute.  He served as guest conductor for the Philadelphia Orchestra and Boston Symphony Orchestra. Condition: Not examined outside frame.  In apparently good overall condition.  The frame in good condition with minor scratches and wear.
