Sir Harold Gillies (New Zealand, 1882-1960), ”Sunset, Glen Farrar” - Sir Harold Gillies (New Zealand, 1882-1960), ”Sunset, Glen Farrar”   oil on board.   Dimensions : 9 1/2 in. x 13 1/2 in.; 11 1/2 in. x 15 1/2 in. (framed)   Provenance : From a Bala Cynwyd, PA estate.   Gillies is best known as the father of modern plastic surgery thanks to the techniques he devised to repair the faces of soldiers returning home from WWI.   Condition: The reverse with paper label with title and artist and one for James Bourlet & Sons, Fine Art Packers.  The front of frame and reverse of board also with paper numbered ”80”.  The panel in good condition with minor surface soiling to paint.  A few chips and losses to upper right quadrant.  The painted frame with some rubbing, wear and loss to paint decoration.
