George III Mahogany Tall Case Clock, William Jourdain, London - A George III Mahogany Tall Case Clock, William Jourdain, London, Second Half 18th Century. The twelve-inch arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring having Roman hours and Arabic minutes with a subsidiary seconds dial,  date aperture and two arbors to the matte center within cast spandrels, a silvered medallion engraved 'William Jourdain / London' to the lunette, above a strike/silent lever, the eight-day twin train movement with five knopped pillars, and anchor escapement striking on a bell. The molded arched hood with conforming glazed dial door, flanked by engaged colonettes and rectangular sidelights, Cove molding above a rectangular waist with tombstone molded door, and crossbanding to either side, above a molded box  and plinth base. Dimensions: Height 84 3/4in; width 20 1/4in; depth 10 1/4in. Provenance: Property from the Collection of an English Gentleman. Condition: The case with typical marks, wear, nick, and surface scratches commensurate with age and use. The dial door with a crack to the glass. Shrinkage, age cracks and movement to veneers. there is a significant horizontal age crack to the base of case. With pendulum, two weights, winding crank and case key. At the time the condition report was conducted, the clock was currently maintaining power and striking correctly. We cannot guarantee the completeness or functionality of the clock's movement.
