The top with canted corners, inlaid with an ebony and fruitwood chess / checkers board, bordered by eight point stars and lozenges. Veneers comprising birch; birdseye maple; burlwood; calamander; elm; rosewood; satin wood; tulip wood and others. Raised on a turned mahogany support, platform base with bun feet, ending in casters. Dimensions: Height 27 1/4in; width 19in; depth 18 3/4in. Provenance: Property from the Collection of an English Gentleman. Condition: Structurally sound. The top and base probably together by association. Lifting and small losses to the veneered top, minor warping. General marks, wear, nicks, abrasions and surface scratches throughout.
